Another quiet day - just taking baby steps forward.

One good step was that the respiratory therapists adjusted her ventilator so that she is now initiating all her own breaths. The machine still gives her pressure support and some extra oxygen, but it doesn't force her to breathe at all. She was managing quite well all day long, which seemed a little surprising. The nurses said she might be able to do it for a few hours and then need the regulated breathing again when she got tired. But she did it for upwards of 12 hours on her own!

Baby steps. :)

  3. Excellent! Every little positive step adds up and before you know it....miracles happen. I believe strongly in the benefit of having a strong support group and prayer, and Judi definitely has both in abundance. As Judi gets stronger don't negelect yourselves, keep your strength and clarity of mind.

Good progress Judi, you keep making great progress. Sending you positive energy, you are in our thoughts and prayers. Once we were diving in Key West. I took a giant stride off the back of the boat and the visibility was low and I wondered if this dive was a good idea. David had to look for me and quickly found me and the dive was interesting in that we had difficult time seeing but we came upon a large school of midnight blue parrot fish. So even though we don't always see everything clearly right away there is raw beauty and hope in the fog. Look for the best even when we can't always see clearly and there may be something wonderful there.

I want you to know I am thinking of you today. I pray daily for you, Steve and Jess. Keep fighting and getting stronger. Carla keeps singing and saying "If Judi were here she would made me stop...she hates when I sing." I think I know why... Judi we miss you at AOA.
